If you visit the Costa Blanca, it can be difficult to get around the area to see everything that you want to. One of the easiest ways to do this is to rent a car. An Alicante car rental is the easiest way to get around the region. There are nine very well known rental companies which operate within the Alicante airport, these are:

- Aruiga
- Europa
- Centauro
- Altesa
- Europcar
- Hertz
- Solmar
- Avis
- Record

These companies can all be found just outside of the arrival area. These companies are all grouped together, which makes them quite easy to find when you first enter the airport. Some of these allow you some time to teach you about the car before letting you lose with it.

Guide to Getting a Good Deal Alicante Car Rental

In order to get the best deal available you should book your car as early as possible. This also makes sure that they won't run out of cars by the time you reach the airport. The summer is a very popular season for tourists, and so hire cars will be in high demand. The earlier you start looking for cars, the better price you should be able to get.

You can either contact the hire company directly to book your car, or you can book it through a travel agent or through the internet. Some travel agents will offer package deals including a car along with anything else which you might want or need. You should spend time comparing the cost of these packages to find out if they are a good deal for you or not.

You need to make sure you think about where you will be picking up and dropping off your rental car. It's normally about the same price to rent at the airport and in the city, however you should compare the costs to make sure you're getting a good deal. Sometimes it's cheaper to rent in the town, while others it's more convenient to book in the airport.

Alicante Car Rental Extras

There are a number of optional extras that you may be offered when hiring your rental car. Some of these may be included in certain packages, while others are only an optional extra. Make sure you familiarize yourself with all of the optional extras so that you can get everything you need.

If you are taking young children then it is important to understand that it is a legal requirement for children to sit in safety seats while travelling in Spain. When you book your car make sure that you remember to book a child safety seat. Also make sure that you are booking the right age of seat for your child, this will be an optional extra which could be quite expensive.

Alternatively you could consider bringing your own car seat with you. You just have to remember to take it on the plane, it's quite bulky so it might be a bit of a hassle, however it shouldn't be that much of a problem. Decide whether you think it's worth the effort of taking your own seat with you.

You may also want to think about whether you need air conditioning in your rental car. This might not be a standard option, if you are renting during the summer then this will almost certainly be something that you want.

Car transport services are the best mode of transport for individuals and business owners looking for convenience. You don't need to search hard before you find the ideal type of service provider that will best fulfill your needs.

It is good to choose those car transport companies whose workers understand the needs of businessmen and who aspire to meet these needs. NYC Limo services are rather common in New York and it is not a bad idea to choose them if you want luxury that comes with convenience.

Corporate rate packages are ideal for large companies that make use of these services a lot. Car services ought to be differentiated from taxi services in that a taxi can be flagged down the streets of New York while a car service vehicle cannot.

Car hire services can only be accessed through an appointment from the company that offers these services. The appointment can be made over the phone and then it is dispatched to the driver via radio communication. Sometimes it is possible to hire taxicabs using this method.

Car hire services are slightly different from limousine services which are more upscale. Limousine services are usually reserved for very special occasions or by business executives. The Region of State Island is known for the use of limousine and car hire services.

Areas which are not covered by taxi services make use of limousine services. Such areas include Brooklyn and the surrounding areas. Car service vehicles differ from taxicabs in that they are mainly normal sedans that come in different colors. Another difference is that taxicab fares are determined by meters while this is not the case with car hire services. The fee in the case of car hire transport services is determined during the appointment.

Corporate packages differ from one company to the other. Limousine New York services are mainly associated with wealth and luxury. Weddings are the main type of events that make use of limousines. The comfort that comes with the car model is amazing. No wonder it is the wish of every one of us to one day ride in a limousine on an important occasion.

Newark Limo rental services are now a common sight in some parts of the United States. Companies for car rental services have a way of customizing limousines so that they fit in with every type of occasion. Bachelor or bachelorette events make use of these limousine transport services so as to add style and glamour to the occasions.

LGA Limo buses are preferred for their large space which can accommodate many people while at the same time bringing them close together for an intimate conversation as they head towards the venue of the event. They are ideal for local residents, tourists from other states or even visitors from other countries on business trips. Tourists love the experience of being in a new country while riding on a JFK Limo. Top government officials and diplomats from various countries also prefer to use these services when there important conferences in New York City.

When you rent a car, you take on full responsibility for any loss or damage suffered by the vehicle whilst it is in your care. A damage liability waiver partially reduces - or "waives" - your liability for such loss or damage. It is an agreement between you and the owner of the hired vehicle that your liability is partially waived in this way, rather than an insurance policy in the strict sense of the term (though most people will reasonably see it as such). The easy answer to the question of whether or not you need damage liability waiver, therefore, is that is not essential - but you would be landed with full responsibility for any loss or damage that happens to the vehicle, and this could potentially be as much as the replacement value (a lot of money, in other words).

Most rental companies, therefore, will want to protect their investment in the vehicle by insisting that you have an adequate damage liability waiver or its equivalent. Many will include the cost of providing the waiver in the quoted cost of renting the vehicle. Where this is the case, however, it is important not to be misled into thinking that this totally absolves you from any financial responsibility for damage to the car. There are important exclusions usually attached to such agreements.

Damage to the windows or glass, the tyres and wheels, and the roof and underside of the vehicle, for example, are all areas most often excluded, yet these happen to be areas that are among the most vulnerable to damage. Since they are excluded from the damage liability waiver, this means that you could end up paying for the whole repair bill in the event of damage.

It is also important to remember that the damage liability waiver is almost always only a partial waiver. The agreement includes an excess amount excluded from the waiver that remains the responsibility of the hirer of the vehicle. The amount of excess is likely to vary from rental company to rental company and from one country to another - but is still a significant amount. In Europe as a whole, it might be several hundred pounds, but in the UK it is frequently £600 and in Australia, for example, it can be as much as £1,500. Just like the excess on a regular insurance contract, the damage liability waiver excess is the first part of any claim for loss or damage. To take the UK example of £600, this means that if repairs for any damage cost, say £500, the hirer of the vehicle will end up paying the whole of the bill.

Given the size of the hirer's remaining liability under the damage liability waiver, therefore, it is also possible to insure either a part or the whole of the excess, thus reducing the risk. This separate cover for the excess is likely to be sold by the rental company itself, but there are a number of specialist car hire insurers that offer more competitively priced products. Standalone excess insurance from an independent provider, therefore, is certainly worth considering.

Are you going on an important personal or business trip? Want to drive there, but don't want to rack up the mileage and put more wear and tear on the family car? Then at this very moment, you are probably worrying about the cost of renting a car. But you don't need to worry, there are many ways you can save money on car rentals. Read on to find out how.

Decide what size vehicle you really need. If you are traveling on your own, there's a good chance that you can get away with renting a subcompact car for your trip. That's generally the most cost-efficient way to go because the rental and the gas will be cheaper. However, if you will be traveling with a family or co-workers, comfort will be of importance so you will most likely want to upgrade to a mid-size car that can handle the demands of your passengers and ensure a safe comfortable ride to your destination.

Get quotes and ask about specials. Before you decide from what company you plan to rent the car from, get out your local yellow page listings or get online to find the best deals. Then locate a phone number and make a telephone call to get price quotes. Oftentimes, if you explain the reason for your trip and that you are calling around to other companies for quotes, each company will try to under-quote their competitors in order to get your business. Customer service agents do their best to get you to rent from them so be sure and take advantage of this by speaking with a live person first.

Ask if the rental club checks driving records. Many consumers do not know this, but when you give the rental company a copy of your driver's license and sign the rental agreement and release, you are giving the rental company the right to check your driving record through the DMV. Many rental companies can increase the rental price or refuse to rent you a vehicle if you have multiple tickets or accidents appearing on your driving record. So be sure to ask about this before signing anything.

Learn more about hidden fees and extra insurance. When renting a vehicle from a car rental company, they each will assess small fees to increase the rental rate. Fees like vehicle refueling charges, cleaning fees, late return fees, and extra insurance can really rack up. In many cases, if you have your own insurance policy for your own cars, your insurance carrier will cover your rental vehicle for no additional cost to you for liability and collision. You do not have to purchase the additional insurance that car rental companies sell- these policies are often grossly over-inflated and useless.

Check with your company for corporate rates. If you are traveling for business purposes, the best thing to do is check with your corporate travel or human resource department to see if your company is eligible for any corporate rates with rental companies. Oftentimes, they will be able to provide you with a special code to use or a contact that will allow you to rent a car for a reduced price. You can hold onto this code and use it later for personal use if you wish and save even more.

Join a club. That's right, if you want to save money join a travel club. The memberships cost very little, but the savings you will realize on car rentals, hotels and other travel amenities over time will be well worth it. Many club members save as much as 50% of their travel costs, including car rentals.

The time to think about car rental insurance is not after you have had some sort of accident. Too many people make the mistake of waiting until it is too late to find out exactly what their rental insurance encompasses. Generally speaking, insurance rules and laws in Europe follow the same basic guidelines as in the United States, whether you rent or own. There are many different types of insurances available to renters both when setting up the rental and at the time of pick up.

The deductible, or excess amount, is the amount the renter is responsible for in the event of damage to or theft of the rental vehicle. When purchasing the CDW/Theft insurances through rental car agencies, these amounts can sometimes be very high and are usually blocked on the renters credit card to ensure the company can collect in the event of an accident. Most companies offer additional insurnace locally that will lower the amounts.

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is the amount due to the rental car company in case of damage to the rental vehicle. Many major credit card companies offer this insurance simply by paying for the rental with that particular credit card. This benefit from the credit card company is not offered when renting in certain Western European countries, usually Italy and Ireland. When deciding whether to pay for the collision insurance through the rental car company or use the insurance offered on your credit card it is important to consider the deductibles.

Theft Insurance determines the amount of money due to the rental car agency in case of theft of the rental vehicle. Usually collision and theft coverage go hand in hand. For example, if your credit card company offers collision coverage, then theft is usually included as well.

Fire Insurance doesn't cover any and all vehicle fire, this is important to know. Generally speaking it refers only to fires that are due to mechanical defects.

Simply put, liability covers anyone or anything outside of your rental vehicle. Liability coverage encompasses damage or injury that occurs due to the driver's negligence. Most car rental suppliers include this automatically since it is mandatory everywhere

The insurances listed above are absolutely necessary and cannot be avoided. There are also many different forms of optional protection available that you may be interested in purchasing at the rental counter. The extra types of insurance include Personal Accident Insurance, Personal Effects Coverage and Loss of Use Coverage. They are not in any way necessary, but some renters prefer the feeling of complete protection.

Take the time to research what is required and desired based on where you plan to rent or travel. Learn from the mistakes of others and address the insurance issues before it's too late!

At the best of times, most of us do not fully comprehend the 'ins and outs' of car insurance. When adding rental car insurance into the mix, it may seem like an added expense that you can avoid, or, should you be cautious and jump at the chance of making sure that you are fully covered in the event of a car accident?

Before leaving home on your next family vacation or business trip, it may be a wise decision to find out what your personal vehicle insurance and credit card cover. There are basically two types of insurance: Liability and Collision. Liability covers your personal injury and injury to others. Collision covers the actual vehicle damages.

Some credit cards cover you if you have an accident; however, not all of them provide the necessary coverage. As well, there may be insurance loop holes to look out for. It is easy to call your credit card company to request a copy of the insurance they provide for car rentals so that you can have it in hand when you go to rent your vehicle. When you receive your copy of the insurance and feel that you have a good grasp of the coverage and are secure with it, then use that credit card to cover your rental insurance.

A fee of between $10 and $15 per day is charged by most car rental companies. If you decline the optional insurance, many rental companies will then charge a substantial fee as a deposit to feel secure with the rental. The fee, which is charged to your credit card, can be as much as the value of the rental car itself. This can wreak havoc on your credit limit while traveling so make sure you have an additional card for use on the trip. Depending on your personal car insurance, you may be able to waive this fee when traveling, but again, check before you rent the car. In some cases, you will be okay, but often collision and comprehensive will cover only your rented vehicle.

If you make a trip to the rental car pick-up location, you may be able to get a much better deal than if you called the toll-free number. Many times the cost of rental and rental car insurance depends on other things such as the season, travel distance, and the travel destination, particularly if it is a densely populated urban area.

To keep the cost of rental expense low, check your own personal vehicle insurance and the insurance that your credit card offers when you use the card for a rental purchase. Sometimes the coverage the rental company offers is a secondary coverage and only kicks in after the coverage of your own personal policy reaches its limit. It is important to check to see if that is a condition of the rental insurance policy. There could possibly be a large number of exclusions and a high deductible, making the policy a poor investment.

If you do not have collision and comprehensive insurance and you are acquiring a rental car, you should purchase the Loss Damage Waivers (LDW) or Collision Damage Waivers (CDW,) whichever your rental company offers. It will protect you if the rental is vandalized or stolen.

When packing for your vacation or trip, pack a copy of your vehicle and credit card insurance. Take the insurance papers with you when you go to the rental car company so that there will be no issue concerning your coverage. You can then start your trip on the right foot by saving money and making sure that you and your family are protected.

Malta is one of the most popular tourist destinations for summer holidays and car hire is affordable and practical. Driving around Malta in your own transport allows you take benefit of the fact that the island offers a lot of places of interest in close proximity. Hiring a car will help you avoid unnecessary trips to and from and you'll be able to do much more with your precious holiday time.

Driving in Malta is a unique experience and there are a few things you should keep in mind if you decide to hire a car on your Malta holiday. Although the core information provided in these tips is correct, they are slightly exaggerated and should by no means be taken as discouraging you from hiring a car. Driving in Malta is fun, but more so if you know what to expect!

Warning - Parts of this article are purely fictional. If you have a sense of humour you'll be able to detect the bits I made up.

1. Left hand drive

When you ask the Maltese on what side of the road they drive, they'll usually tell you "On the shady side" or "On the side that doesn't have potholes". The expected answer to that question is actually "On the left hand side". Malta used to be a British colony (up until its independence in 1964) and has therefore adapted the left hand drive system and Highway Code.

2. Vehicles with priority

Although the Maltese adopted much of the Highway Code used in the United Kingdom, the rules are interpreted differently by many drivers in Malta. That's not unique to Malta really, but perhaps these creative interpretations are more noticeable there. The rule most often ignored is who is given the right of way. Right of way is actually given according to vehicle size. If you hire a pick-up truck, you'll have a significant advantage over other road users. If, however, a yellow monstrosity (public transport bus) crosses your path play it safe and apply the brakes. The same goes for private coaches, lorries and so-called mini-buses (red Ford Transit vans used for private transport).

3. Budget vs comfort

If you're the type of person who tends to go for budget when on holiday, please reconsider when it comes to car hire. Yes, you can hire a cheap car that's decent but there is one important luxury you will not want to pass up on during the summer months: Air conditioning. Maltese summers are HOT, which is perfect for sunbathing, swimming and chilling by the beach, but not so much for driving. You will want A/C!

4. Navigating your Moonlander

Maltese roads reach to all parts of the island and there are plenty of shortcuts around, with plenty of tarmac having been laid over the years. HOWEVER, the quality of the roads is well below par. It's so bad in some parts that vibrations felt in the car can turn milk into butter. Some surfaces will make Neil Armstrong reminisce of his times spent on lunar landscapes. Seriously - Although the roads aren't quite up to scratch with European standards, they are not dangerous to drive on.

5. Parking in abundance

Space is limited in Malta, while there are practically as many cars as people living on the island. That means in some areas trying to find parking is a bit of an adventure. Problem areas in summer are Sliema, St. Julian's, St. Paul's Bay, Bugibba and Qawra.

6. Parking skills

If the mere mention of parallel parking means you're on the brink of a panic fit, perhaps you might want to hire a driver to come with the car on your Malta holiday. Parking bays are the exception to the rule of pavement side parking. Surprisingly, exchanging paint is not something that happens often in Malta.

7. Picking up a few words in Maltese

The Maltese are very expressive, and more so when behind a steering wheel and in situations where they believe they have the right of way (but where they don't). If you were thinking of picking up some Maltese on your holiday in Malta and you'll hire a car, this is a very easy way doing so. It won't be the kind of vocabulary to boast about back home, however.

8. Know where you're going

There's nothing more frustrating than going for a drive in a place you're not familiar with and getting lost. Actually, getting hit by another car is probably worse. Pre-plan your trips to avoid being in doubt in the middle of the road. Do not depend on road signage and save yourself the embarrassment of getting lost on an island that barely measures 20 miles in length.

9. Beware of the men in green

As mentioned before, Maltese drivers tend to interpret the rules of the road very liberally. A couple of years ago the Maltese government figured it would be the perfect opportunity to earn a little extra cash. The result? Local wardens going around in villages sporting a green uniform and handing out fines left right and centre. As long as you abide by parking rules (avoiding any parking slot that is marked by yellow lines), you should be fine though.

10. Avoid public transport

It's a scientifically proven fact that time passes slower when you travel by bus in Malta. Whereas prolonging your holiday is something you'd probably be all for, this is definitely not the way to do so. Alright, if you prefer a cheap solution nothing beats a Maltese bus, but depending on public transport in Malta means you'll be wasting time on a bus stop and in transit.

Malta car hire

Don't be worried too much by these tips - Driving in Malta is fun and not expensive at all. Shop around for good prices and you'll find a bargain to suit your budget.

Are you a budget traveler? Are you looking for ways to save on your travel expenses? Like all budget travelers, we always look for discounts and Enterprise car rental coupons. It used to be very simple. We just go to the car rental counter outside the airport and ask for discount and the people are really kind to give us not only discounts but also the best cars. Even if we paid for cheap cars, they give us better cars if they don't have other customers.

But times have changed. When they started offering coupon codes for the internet, we thought that it was a welcome change. We didn't have to spend on gas to have coupons and that was big cut in our expenditures, but then a lot of sites started to sprout like mushrooms and now we don't know which among these sites give the most reliable coupons for Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

We spent a lot of time trying out these coupon codes we see all over the internet. We always needed to rent cars for our work so we decided to take advantage of whatever the sites are offering. But we found that most of the sites don't live up to their promise. We use the codes during our check-out of our online purchase. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't, but it's worth trying because you really get big savings from them.

You can also get them when you sign up in their e-mail distribution list and we receive Enterprise Car Rental Coupons once in a while from them as attachments to their e-mails.

We also tried to look at travel magazines, promotional brochures and coupon books and most of the times, we find printable coupons that are honored in all motel chains.

If you are searching for rental cars coupons and want to save on them, my suggestion is to look not only in one place but in different media-- both print and online and you'll surely find those 10% - 20% off discounts which will bring down the room rates to almost $25/night.

With the threat of global warming and other environmental concerns in the forefront of the American mindset, many travelers have begun to turn to hybrid vehicles as their choice for rented transportation during business and personal trips. And airport hybrid rental companies are happy to fill the needs. While the fuel-efficient hybrid cars are popular, they are also still expensive to own. On the other hand, hybrid car rentals have been growing in popularity over the last few years, causing many rental companies to constantly try to add more hybrid cars to their fleets to fill demand, especially at airport locations.

For those interested in renting a hybrid car air airport destinations during a business trip or trying one out before spending thousands to buy one, here is a list of the ten hybrid car rental companies, in no particular order.

  1. Enterprise - One of the foremost leaders in the green movement, Enterprise has outfitted their nationwide locations with over seven thousand hybrid cars. Their new hybrid cars are priced only slightly above their other vehicles, and they have a large selection. Enterprise's website makes it easy for travelers to find hybrid cars for rent at airports.
  2. Hertz - One of the most recognizable car rental companies in the nation, Hertz joined the hybrid movement late but has quickly grown to own over four-thousand of the vehicles. Conveniently located at most large airports, Hertz is an excellent option for travelers.
  3. Toyota Rent A Car - It's not general knowledge that Toyota dealers are making their cars available for rent, including many of the well-known Toyota hybrid models. Go to their website toyota.com/rental/ , then enter your zip code to search for the nearest participating Toyota dealers.
  4. Midway Car Rental - Established in the early 1970's, Midway is the largest privately owned vehicle rental company in Los Angeles. With over 1,500 vehicles in its fleet and offices in areas around Los Angeles and Hollywood, Midway has hybrid cars and other fuel efficient vehicles for rent.
  5. Alamo - Owned by the same company that also owns National Car Rental, Alamo Rent-a-Car offers several different hybrid car rental models throughout the United States. Their offerings may be low, for now, but as the popularity of hybrids continues to grow, so will their offerings.
  6. Avis - Much like Hertz, Avis is a large organization that often operates near airports. Unlike their competitor, however, Avis still only offers hybrid car rentals in select cities around the United States. Still, for those flying to a large city, it is a good bet that Avis will have a hybrid Prius or Escape available.
  7. Fox Rent-a-Car - Located primarily in California, Fox Rent-a-Car offers both free mileage and low rates to entice customers away from the bigger companies. They have also recently embraced the hybrid car rental market with Toyota Priuses offered at several of their locations.
  8. National - National Car Rental offers midsize hybrids in most regions of the country at a reasonable price. And where they are unable to offer environmentally beneficial cars, they instead offer charitable contributions to help the cause.
  9. Thrifty - Another less-known rental agency, Thrifty is a company whose marketing strategy is to offer lower prices to the consumers. As such, when San Francisco's airport offered a fifteen-dollar discount to all who rent hybrids, Thrifty was quick to join many other companies in offering those vehicles. Outside of the Bay Area, however, offerings remain slim.
  10. FindExotic.com - While FindExotic.com is not a rental company itself, FindExotic.com is great for finding hybrid rentals in a number of areas and is such a good resource, it deserves a spot on the list.

These are just ten of the many rental agencies that are quickly becoming providers of hybrid rental cars. And while the total amount of these vehicles remains at around ten to fifteen percent of all cars offered, there is no doubt that they will continue to grow in popularity.

When every dollar of savings counts, car rental specials can help save you money on your rental this summer. If you go to company websites you will often see a tab for deals or specials, and they often have their best or current offers advertised right on the home page. Because summer is such a busy travel time and many companies are downsizing their fleets, it's important to plan ahead.

When you're looking to save some cash on weekend or weekly car rentals this summer, you'll want to do some research to make sure that that any available specials or deals will work with the rental that you want to do.

Some weekend and weekly specials are location specific. The offer may only be available at an airport location , some only at off airport or neighborhood locations. Many weekend specials will only be available in certain cities or even at participating locations in certain states.

Make sure that you know exactly what is required to qualify for a weekend rate for the particular car rental company you choose. For some companies you can pick up as early as Thursday, while some will only allow pick up on Friday or a Saturday.

For all weekend car rental deals there will be restrictions about when the vehicle must be returned; generally on Monday. If you return the vehicle later than Monday, you will be charged a higher rate. Most weekend deals will only be offered on certain size or classes of vehicles. Make sure that your vehicle preference is included.

Make sure to verify exactly what is required to qualify for a weekly rate for that particular car rental company. As a general rule, a weekly rental will require a 5 day minimum and usually must include a Saturday night overstay.

Keep in mind that with most weekly deals, the value may only apply to the first week. For example, if you see a special that advertised $35 off a weekly rental and you want to rent a car for 2 weeks, the $35 will only come off once, not for each week. However if the special includes a percentage off a weekly rental, the percentage savings will generally apply to the full period of the rental, as long as the vehicle is returned before the maximum rental period that is specified.

Lastly, make sure to carefully research and read all terms and conditions that are listed with any specials or booking that you make. Verify if there are any blackout dates, advanced booking requirements and don't forget to check the expiration date of a special. For most companies a special or deal will list an expiration date, which will be either when the rental needs to be reserved by or the date by which you must pick up the car.

Remember, if you can't find a car rental special to meet your needs this summer, make sure to check to see if you at least qualify for a car rental discount code from an association or professional membership that will help lower your rate. There are hundreds of programs that offer car rental discounts to their members.

And, as always, do a lot of comparison shopping and book your rental as far in advance as you can!

Have a safe and happy summer!

You may not be surprised to find out that there is a distinct approval process when it comes to renting a car or other vehicle. Rental companies require a few basic things in order to allow you to rent a car. While every rental company is different, there are three common rental vehicle qualifications that you're likely to encounter.

A Minimum Age
Although the minimum age requirement may vary in some areas, 21 years old is the de facto standard minimum age for rental vehicle companies. Proper identification is required to prove your age. Generally speaking, a driver's license will meet this requirement, but some rental companies may want an additional age-related document. Be sure to call ahead and find out the rental company's requirements.

Anyone else who might drive the rental car should also meet the age requirement set forth by the company. An underage friend or family member should never drive the car without the company's authorization, as this may void the insurance cover.

Driving Record
Your driving history does matter in the vehicle rental industry. Some companies may screen your driving record in the approval process. While a driving record screen is becoming easier and easier as technology improves, you will want to allow enough time to complete this process if necessary.

If you've been convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol, have multiple speeding tickets, or have even been caught for not wearing your seat belt, there is a good chance you will be denied a rental vehicle.

Some companies may allow you sign a confidentiality contract stating that your record is acceptable to their terms. If these companies do a background check on your driving history, and you are caught lying, the rental company can terminate your account. You will have violated the agreement terms.

Credit/Debit Card
Most vehicle rental companies will also require you to provide a credit or debit card in order to rent a vehicle. Some companies will charge a security deposit, while others will simply keep the card on file in case there is a need to charge it for damage to the car or for services such as filling the car with gasoline. When you rent the vehicle, you will typically sign a waiver that allows the rental company to charge that credit or debit card for those damages or services, based on the details of the contract.

One of the most significant businesses that have marked the 20th century is car-renting. Car rental agencies primarily serve people who have a car that is temporarily out of reach or out of service or travelers who are out of town or owners of damaged or destroyed vehicles who are awaiting repair or insurance compensation.

In USA this business started in 1916 when Joe Saunders from Nebraska started a car renting business with a Ford Model T he owned, renting the car to local and visiting businessmen. By 1925 Saunders had car rental operations in 21 states. By then, The Chrysler Company ran full-page ads boasting that Saunders had purchased $1 million worth of Chrysler automobiles.

Unfortunately in 1930s, during the Great Depression Saunders went bankrupt.

In 1918 Walter L. Jacobs started renting Model T Fords in Chicago and by 1923 his business was grossing over $1 million in annual sales. Later John Hertz, who owned The Yellow Cab and Yellow Truck and Coach Manufacturing Company bought the business from Jacobs. General Motors bought out Hertz's Yellow Truck Company in 1926, and named the car renting business as the Hertz Drive-Ur-Self System.

Another major rental car agency, National Car Rental System, was formed in St. Louis, Missouri, on August 27, 1947, by 24 independent car rental operators who hoped to broaden their market influence by teaming together. Among the original founders of the company was, again, Joe Saunders.

In the early 1970s, the industry also moved into the used-car business, selling used rental cars directly to the public.

Increased competition in the rent-a-car industry in the 1970s and 1980s led to price wars and innovative give-away and bonus programs. This competition lead to many companies struggling financially by 1985. Rental car industry was also an effective marketing tool, as millions of potential car buyers were exposed to the newest models from the manufacturers every year.

The Car Rental industry now carries an inventory of about 1.7 million cars in the U.S. market alone (up from about 135,000 cars in 1965), according to Auto Rental News, which aggregates information on public and private car rental companies.

According to 2003 data from rental companies, online bookings have become important for the industry, with 21% of the bookings coming from online agencies and 15% directly from the companies' web sites.

Importance of online bookings is expected to grow further, aided by the ability to compare several rental companies easily online, which should also keep prices in check for the sector in general.

Renting a passenger van is a great idea for people who are traveling with a group of friends or family. Passenger vans are a great option for people going on vacation together. They are also great for children's parties as you can transport the children to their destination (such as the local zoo) quickly and easily. It is not difficult to find great deals from all the major van rental companies. This article will discuss how to get the best prices and also tell you the benefits of renting passenger vans.

Finding Great Deals
You should always start looking for cheap rentals by visiting the websites of all the major van rental companies and comparing the deals. The more research you do the better deal you will find. Many companies also have great daily deals which could potentially save you hundreds of dollars off the price of the rental. You should also search the internet and your local newspapers for some coupon codes. You may be able to save 10% off the price of the rental if you find some good coupons. Once you find the best deal you will need your credit card to book the van online or over the phone.

Benefits of Passenger Van Rentals

  • Come in a variety of sizes (up to 16 passengers) to suit nearly any group
  • Luxury vans, with televisions and DVD players, are great for groups who want a fun night out
  • Plenty of room for all the passengers
  • Very easy to hire. All you need is a drivers licence and a credit card
  • Much better than traveling in cars, as you only need the one driver
